Mechanical Breakdown Coverage for Homeowners
Regardless of age, the mechanical equipment around your home is subject to
sudden and accidental breakdown and repairs or replacement can be costly.
Cincinnati’s Mechanical Breakdown Coverage can enhance your
homeowner policy and can give you peace of mind knowing you’re protected
against many unforeseen and unexpected mechanical breakdowns to your home’s
major components.
This endorsement, if purchased, broadens your policy to cover losses due to
mechanical breakdown from covered accidents to key household equipment. Covered
equipment includes major systems that affect your ability to live comfortably
in your home, such as heating and air conditioning units and water heaters. The
endorsement does not cover normal wear and tear to major systems or kitchen and
laundry appliances, entertainment equipment, computer equipment or personal
property.
With Cincinnati’s mechanical breakdown endorsement, you receive coverage
that:
- pays up to $50,000 for the sudden and accidental breakdown of covered
equipment, necessitating its repair or replacement
- provides additional living expenses up to $200 per day, up to a total of
$1,000, if you cannot live in your home until repairs are made after a covered
accident. This amount is included within the same $50,000 limit of insurance
that covers your equipment
- pays the cost to replace covered equipment, following a covered
accident, with equipment that is better for the environment, safer or more
efficient -- up to 125 percent of the cost to replace with equipment the same
kind and quality of the original equipment. This does not increase the $50,000
limit of insurance.
