A.M. Best, an independent provider of insurer ratings since 1899,
awards its highest financial strength rating, A++ (Superior), to Cincinnati's
property casualty group. This rating is awarded to only the top 2 percent of
property casualty insurer groups. On July 3, 2008, Best placed Cincinnati's

Fitch Ratings cites the competitive advantage that Cincinnati's
property casualty companies derive from emphasis on long-term relationships
with select independent agents, low expense structure and excellent claims
service in awarding its AA- (Very Strong) rating. The Cincinnati Life Insurance
Company also earns the AA- rating for a very strong capital position and good
earnings and liquidity. Fitch has a negative outlook.

Moody's Investors Service Aa3 rating of the property casualty group
indicates "excellent financial security, reflecting the group's strong
regional agency franchise, large capital base and its historic operating
profitability." On July 2, 2008, Moody's placed Cincinnati's ratings on

Standard & Poor’s Rating Services cites Cincinnati’s rating
characteristics supporting its A+ (Strong) rating as an “extremely strong and
loyal agency force, strong competitive position, improved technological
